Dive into the Closing Forum of the “Imagining Africa’s Futures” project
To help shape a better future for the African continent, the “Imagining Africa’s Futures” project was developed, co-constructed and deployed in collaboration with the United Nations Education Organization, the Science and Culture (UNESCO), and the Faculty of Governance, Economic and Social Sciences (FGSES) of UM6P. This includes introducing “Future Literacy”, a tool that will allow Africans to design and shape their future.
It is in this vein that the Social Sciences, Economy and Humanities Pole of the UM6P, UNESCO and the OCP Foundation organized the Africa Futures Forum under the theme “Imagining the Futures of Africa”, on July 14 2023 within the Technopolis campus of UM6P. This Forum was preceded from July 12 to 13, by the organization of a Future Literacy Lab (FLL), with the participation of around 60 young Africans from public universities and Moroccan higher education establishments.
event closes the “Imagining the Futures of Africa” (IAF) project, the result of a partnership established in 2017, the main objective of which is to strengthen foresight capacities in Africa through awareness-raising, communication, training and action research. An opportunity to deepen reflection on the major challenges facing the African continent to think and imagine its bold futures. Here is a little numerical overview:
- 650 people who participated in training, masterclasses and awareness events on future thinking, foresight and future literacy
- 57 African executives having been certified following the executive training of 65 participants of +150 hours of online and face-to-face training in strategic foresight, 42% of whom are women, from 20 African countries.
- 30 African undergraduate, master and doctoral students trained in strategic foresight
- 15 FLL organized and 5 UNESCO Chairs deployed
The day was rich in conferences and round tables led by African decision-makers, foresight experts and renowned academicians and ended with the launch of the Online Strategic Foresight Platform intended as, among other things, a center for resources and exchanges between professionals to discover, learn & explore but also connect to the network and exchange.
